It didn’t take very long for Google to regain a 60 percent market share of US searches, as they reached 60.29 in the four weeks ending September 9th.

August’s dip, if it can be called that, has been righted. Online analysis firm Hitwise cited their research in noting Google had not only maintained the top spot, but nudged back to over 60 percent.
Here is how the numbers looked for the four-week period of US search volume most recently measured by Hitwise:
| Search Engine Domain | Search Volume |
| www.google.com | 60.29% |
| search.yahoo.com | 22.58% |
| search.msn.com | 11.56% |
| www.ask.com | 3.63& |

In the four-week period ending August 26th, Google’s search share had dipped to (wait for it) 59.99 percent in the US market. It didn’t hurt their investors’ confidence, as shares of Google closed at 373.26 on August 25th and 380.95 on August 28th.
By the Hitwise numbers, Yahoo and MSN both dipped slightly in the September 9th numbers, while Ask gained a little bit between August 26th and September 9th.
